I know I have been quiet for a while, that is because I have been working hard creating exciting new things, that I couldn't blog about until they were ready.
Firstly I have had a great Easter break at my mums where I learn't to use my spinning wheel and have been experimenting with all sorts of lovely fibres, I also took the opportunity of visiting some of the craft shops around Worcestershire, as a county it seems to have more than its fair share, and so always worth a look. I was a little disappointed at the lack of choice in scrapbooking papers, which is what was predominantly on the hunt for, I was also keeping my eyes open for other art supplies that I have seen on line, and looked interesting, that was a disappointment too. It seems that large suppliers of craft materials are tightening their belts too, and so there isn't many new designs to be found. However I'm not sure we are going to push the boat out for those supplies if there is nothing new to keep us inspired!
This brings me nicely to one of the most exciting parts of my Easter break, I was finally able, at a local craft day on Easter Monday to launch 'Rusty Art' particularly my new Mica Misters!

There is in total 4 colours, but one is yet to be bottled, and tested thoroughly. These are made with plant dyes, and have the extra fun element of being colour changing! In the most part the change as follows; Fairy wings, goes on pink, dries pale purple/grey, Moonlight goes on purple, dries blue and Fantasy Forest goes on red, dries green/brown.
However these colour changes are not set in stone, and can alter depending on how you mix them or what paper you use! It makes for very exciting crafting, I also wanted to create some misters that would create a nice ethereal effect, which these do on a white background, and usefully when layered on a brown card make a fab metallic effect useful for making locks and hinges for mini books. I had a great time testing these and a paint dauber that is white with a hint of 'Fantasy Forest', and some possibilities for embossing powders, and I have been very pleased with the effects I am creating.
The 'Magic Mica Misters' will be available at www.qerkycraftsshop.weebly.com under the heading 'Rusty Art Supplies' from Thursday (tomorrow), as well as some basic card products to use them on. Hopefully the paint daubers and Embossing powders will follow soon.
