I have spent the previous few days researching ideas, and new equipment/ designs for paper crafting. There isn't a huge amount that jumps out and says I'm new and interesting, but I did notice a couple of things. I want to do further research (play with) the Papermania 'Madam Payraud', which looks like paper suited to Altered Art, at a price suitable for teaching with.
I also spotted yesterday, Tim Holtz 'worn covers', I think they are a little like a filofax cover (only cooler) ready for creating mini books with, the only problem is that they don't appear to be available in the UK yet.
So Tim if your reading, I'd love a sample to 'research' with and put a full review on my website!
I suspect for the moment I probably have a better chance of getting some of the 'Madam Payraud' items to do more 'research' with.
I also noted when out shopping that there is a general trend either towards very floral patterns, or items using Butterflies and long tailed birds, to create an elegant effect reminiscent of Art Nouveaux. Personally I am more drawn to the Birds and Butterflies design, as I like the elegance in the pattern. I'm toying with the idea of creating some special mini books with this idea in mind, to put on sale on the website.
I'm also learning that there is a huge amount of admin required to a crafting business, that I never factored in, and this means that there is less time to do the fun stuff than I imagined. Of course housework is even further down the list, so my house is quite scary at the moment!
