I have been quite prolific this week, and not only created an array of goodies that can be seen on this site, and some that can't, I have also been exploring new trends, and possibilities for online workshops.
If you peruse the site, you will see that I am hopefully going to add a small online taster, I'm hoping to get it on there Monday afternoon, but it will very much depend on the techy details. If this is well liked then you can expect lots, of small taster sessions, and then hopefully some full courses you can sign up for, it would be appreciated if you could give me feedback via the contact form. You will notice that I have created the new Craft caddies, they are great for most crafts, but I'm not sure about knitting, so I've made a large tool roll for knitting needles, there are 17 spaces for normal needles, and 2 spaces for extra thick needles, if you use them, if you don't then it must be a sign from a higher power that you need to treat yourself to some! (excuses for buying extra stash, come at no extra cost!) Crocheters will probably like to know, that although they could make use of the Caddies I am producing a roll that will hold crotchet hooks, and probably Lace bobbins, for anyone who makes lace. Please have a good nosey at the site, and keep checking it over the next few days, as I am trying to improve it. it does work for mobile, or web, and mobile users may find a set of 3 lines top left hand side of the page with all your page options. Tablet users should be able to choose layout, via an option at the bottom of the page. have fun!! I have spent the previous few days researching ideas, and new equipment/ designs for paper crafting. There isn't a huge amount that jumps out and says I'm new and interesting, but I did notice a couple of things. I want to do further research (play with) the Papermania 'Madam Payraud', which looks like paper suited to Altered Art, at a price suitable for teaching with.
I also spotted yesterday, Tim Holtz 'worn covers', I think they are a little like a filofax cover (only cooler) ready for creating mini books with, the only problem is that they don't appear to be available in the UK yet. So Tim if your reading, I'd love a sample to 'research' with and put a full review on my website! I suspect for the moment I probably have a better chance of getting some of the 'Madam Payraud' items to do more 'research' with. I also noted when out shopping that there is a general trend either towards very floral patterns, or items using Butterflies and long tailed birds, to create an elegant effect reminiscent of Art Nouveaux. Personally I am more drawn to the Birds and Butterflies design, as I like the elegance in the pattern. I'm toying with the idea of creating some special mini books with this idea in mind, to put on sale on the website. I'm also learning that there is a huge amount of admin required to a crafting business, that I never factored in, and this means that there is less time to do the fun stuff than I imagined. Of course housework is even further down the list, so my house is quite scary at the moment! Since there seems to be a problem with the like buttons at the bottom of these blog's, just comment and like the previous blog to enter the competition.
Measuring is the least favourite part of the project for most crafters, In fact some are more than a little scared. With an A'level in maths, making use of a rule and calculator is not something that bothers me, but it's boring, and I'd much rather get on and cut and stick. Yesterday I was perusing Pin Interest, and came across some beautiful images of flip flop scrapbook, full of lovely secret hiding places for journalling. Unfortunately all the tutorials had lots of information about measurements needed, so i drew a sketch and vowed to come back to it later. I was just about to leave the house to meet my daughter from school, when I was hit with an idea that would require NO measuring!!!!!!! This is what I made, last night, and this morning, I used Papermania 'sew lovely' that I got as a gift (thank you Amy), and created a beautiful flip flop book. It did take some time, so I have reworked again to make a smaller one. To see how it is made there are more details on my 'Demo' page and If you would like to win this one like this page, when I reach 100 I'll raffle it off.
